Louis Morelli's 100th Birthday!
July 28, 2010
Louis Rudolph Morelli was born in Dagus Mines, PA on July 28, 1910, to Narciso and Alma Castagnari Morelli.  He grew up in a variety of coal mining towns and began working in the mines with his father at the age of 14.  After being seriously burned in a house fire, he left coal mining and went to meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio.  From there he worked in many markets, most notably the A&P in Ridgway, PA.  It was there that he met Marie DePanfilis, the love of his life.  They were married on May 3, 1939.  He joined the army and served in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII, as well as a few other war campaigns.

After the war, he returned home to raise his family.  He again worked at the A&P until he joined forces with his brother in law Guy Gatto.  They opened the Center Market in 1951.  Over the years his family grew as his daughters Loretta and Marcheta married and had children.  To date, there are 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Hunting, golf, fishing, and baseball have always been his passions.  When asked, he will tell you he has lived a good life.
